Friend and Sponsors Minimize

Hello and welcome to our Friends and Sponsors page.
My name is Jacquie Clarke and my connection with music is through choral singing with The Shopwyke Singers and with 'Life Music' designed to promote music in the community.
Recently I volunteered to develop and coordinate the activities of the 'Friends' of Chichester Symphony Orchestra and look forward very much to meeting you all at future concerts and events.

A 'Friends' membership form is currently being updated and plans are afoot to resume publication of the CSO Newsletter.
In the meantime, if you have any queries relating to the 'Friends' you can contact me by using the "contact us" tab on this website.

FRIENDS OF CHICHESTER SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA AUTUMN NEWSLETTER 2011

Hello Friends of CSO,

I do hope you’ve all had a pleasant summer and are looking forward to an autumn and winter full of musical delights.

Orchestral rehearsals are now well underway in preparation for the first concert of the season. Once again CSO has been
offered the opportunity to perform for Chichester Cathedral’s Lunchtime Concerts Programme. The concert will take place
on Tuesday 25 October 2011 commencing at 1.10 pm and finishing at approximately 1.50 pm but people are able to come
and go throughout the performance. Entry to the concert is free, tea and coffee will be available and there will be a retiring
collection at the door. Our last concert at the cathedral was packed to capacity so as seating is unreserved, it’s best to
arrive in good time and perhaps bring along a cushion for comfort!

The provisional concert programme is -

Weber:    Freischutz Overture
Sibelius: Violin Concerto (Soloist Mark Hartt-Palmer)

The second exciting event of the season will be our ‘Winter Prom Concert’ at St. Paul’s Church, Northgate at 7.30 pm on
Saturday 10 December when the programme will include works by Rossini, Percy Grainger, Handel, Bizet, Sibelius and Elgar.
Festive mulled wine and mince pies will be served during the interval. We’re going to need extra help ‘front of house’ and
serving refreshments so if any of you are planning to come to the concert and would like to volunteer, I’d be really
pleased to hear from you.

To round off a lovely evening we’re planning a relaxed get-together after the concert for orchestral members and Friends
so I hope to meet some of you there.

Invitation to rehearsals

Concert rehearsals take place from 7.30 - 9.30 pm on Tuesday evenings, usually during school term times, at Christ Church
(Methodist & United Reformed), Old Market Avenue, Chichester, West Sussex. PO19 1SW and as a ‘Friend’ you are very
welcome to attend. If you’d like to do that it might be as well to contact me first just in case there’s been a last minute
change of plan. Alternatively you could go to the CSO website www.chichesterso.co.uk to see if there are notices of any
alterations to the rehearsal schedule. There is plenty of car parking nearby in and around the Pallants or the multi storey
car park in Southgate. Unfortunately, rehearsals clash with my Shopwyke Singers Choir rehearsals but I am planning to
be there on Tuesday 4 October.

Meanwhile, please feel free to forward this newsletter to anyone you know who might like to attend the concerts or
become a Friend of the orchestra.

Jacquie Clarke

Friends Coordinator
